Inaugural Classic City Marathon is in the books

A 22 year-old runner from Coweta County is the winner of the inaugural Classic City Marathon: Gray Frederick of Newnan finished the 26.2 mile race in 2 hours and 35 minutes.

Sam Drop of Athens finished in 2:44 to claim the top spot among female marathoners.

Upwards of 13 hundred runners registered for the full and half marathons. Flooding from recent heavy rains forced a last-minute change in the course, moving off the Greenway and onto a stretch of Martin Luther King Jr Drive in Athens.
