From WSB TV…

A woman was taken to the hospital after falling 30 feet down a steep slope in Habersham County.

Just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, a bystander called Habersham County Emergency Services about a woman being injured on Panther Creek Trail.

The bystander told emergency responders that the woman had fallen down a 30-foot slope near trail marker 19, which is about a half mile from the falls.

Habersham emergency crews along with surrounding fire and emergency officials responded a little after 6 p.m.

About 25 minutes later, rescue crews were able to locate the woman, who was reportedly alert and conscious.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources was unable to airlift the victim due to her location.

Just before 7:30 p.m., crews used harnesses and ropes to get the woman back to the trail.

The woman was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Officials have not released the woman’s identity or current condition.

Habersham officials said the new trail markers were just installed last month, which helped led rescuers right to where the victim was located.
