Heard Park session focuses on A-CC Consolidated Plan

A public input session is set for 5:30 this afternoon at Heard Park in Athens. Up for discussion in the session hosted by the Athens-Clarke County Housing and Community Development Department is the latest draft of the County’s Consolidated Plan.

From the Athens-Clarke County government website…

ACCGov’s Housing & Community Development department is seeking public comment on the proposed goals and strategies for the FY26-30 Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan is a five-year plan that includes a community needs assessment, a resource review and a gaps analysis. This plan is required by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to help communities determine where Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships funding may fill the gap for development of affordable housing, economic development, public services, public facilities and improvements.

Residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed FY26-30 Consolidated Plan goals through in-person community meetings on Thurs., June 6 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Library (2025 Baxter St.); on Tues., June 11 from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Extension Office (275 Cleveland Rd.); and on Wed., June 12 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Heard Park (400 McKinley Dr.). Additionally, a Spanish-language meeting will take place on Thurs., June 20 from 5-6 p.m. at the Pinewoods Library & Learning Center (1465 Hwy. 29 North, Lot F-14). Between May 31 and June 23, residents are also invited to submit feedback on the proposed goals by email (HCD@accgov.com) or by calling HCD at 706-613-3155.
