GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Eric Jevon Bailey was diagnosed with kidney failure three years ago and is now in desperate need of a transplant.
“My name is Eric Jevon Bailey. My date of birth is 12/4/73. I am A-positive. So anyone who is ‘A’ or ‘O’ would be a match for me,” Bailey said.
Bailey’s coworkers at the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s office are also trying to help him find a donor.
“We’re like a family at the Medical Examiner’s Office. We do what we can to help each other during hardship, and Eric fits the bill,” said coworker Shannon Volkodav.
Coworkers have gone as far as getting “screened” to see if they would be a suitable match for Bailey. Sadly, none of Bailey’s coworkers happened to match.

Bailey is a fighter and does not give up on his mission to find a donor. Nightly, he undergoes a 10-hour dialysis treatment and still manages to come in to work the next day.
He is a forensic investigator at the medical examiners office. The job he loves and the friends he works alongside are part of what keeps him going.
“I enjoy being an investigator for the Medical Examiner’s Office. I guess this is my passion — to make a living, and do what God has called me to do,” Bailey said.
Emory Healthcare is currently coordinating an effort to find Bailey a donor.
