GBI probes road rage death in Greene Co

The GBI joins the investigation in Greene County, where the Greene County Sheriff’s Office says a 30 year-old man from South Carolina was killed in what looks to have been road rage shooting on I-20. Police were, at last report, trying to track down a suspect. The victim has been identified as Joseph Briggs. He was from Manning South Carolina.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are searching for the person who killed a man in a road rage shooting.

Officials said they received a 911 call at around 6:45 a.m. Friday about car accident on Interstate 20 near mile marker 132.

When they arrived, deputies found the body of Joseph Briggs, of Manning, South Carolina, inside his car. The 30-year-old had several gunshot wounds.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office called in the GBI to assist with the investigation. They determined that Briggs was a victim of road rage.

A suspect has not been identified.
