Colonel Todd Heussner, one of 13 Republicans who announced a campaign for Congress in Georgia’s 10th District, says now he will not be on ballots next year. The retired Army officer from Evans leaves the race to replace outgoing Congressman Jody Hice, the Republican who represents most of Athens in the US House. Hice is leaving Congress to campaign for Secretary of State. The remaining Republicans in the 10th District contest will face off in a candidates forum next Monday night in Oconee County.

Heussner is a decorated Combat Veteran with four Bronze Stars. He says one of the highlights of his Army Service was his assignment to joint POW/MIA Accounting Command where he located, recovered and returned service members that were Missing In Action to their families.

He filed notice of campaign termination with the Federal Elections Commission.
