Fowler Drive’s assistant principal has been named Assistant Principal of the Year. The following is from the Clarke County School District:
Fowler Drive Elementary School assistant principal Stacie Carson was recently named Assistant Principal of the Year by the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals (GAESP). The surprise announcement was made Wednesday afternoon at the school.
“Dr. Stacie T. Carson is most deserving of this award, and has demonstrated strong leadership, expertise and knowledge since she began at Fowler this school year,” said Principal Anissa Johnson. “Dr. Carson is a true team player and committed to the success of all faculty, staff and students of Fowler Drive. Her leadership has helped us hone in on students in need of academic assistance, enrichment and socialization. She is a true asset to Fowler Drive Elementary, Clarke County School District and the state of Georgia!”
The Assistant Principal Award is presented to an active assistant principal with a minimum of two years at their present school, holds a Georgia L5 certification, is an active member of GAESP and respective district association for the last two consecutive years, is an online administrator during year of award presentation and is not a state-wide elected officer.
Said the executive director of GAESP, Hal Beaver, “You have been chosen by your peers, because you exemplify educational leadership of the highest quality. In your work, you have demonstrated a concern for educational excellence, which has instilled a love of learning in your community’s young people, setting the character and quality of education during the early school years. Your commitment to excellence is reflected in programs designed to meet academic and social needs of all children, and the establishment of community ties with parents and local business organizations.”
Prior to Fowler Drive, Carson was assistant principal at Winterville Elementary School, and a classroom teacher at Alps Road Elementary School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Mary Washington, master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a doctorate from the University of Georgia. She and her husband, James, are the proud parents of Anneliese and Katie.
