Former Oconee County state Rep Bob Smith, who resigned as Mayor of Watkinsville earlier this year, is endorsing challenger Rebecca Billings in next month’s mayoral election. Billings is running to unseat Brian Brodrick, the long-time Watkinsville City Councilman who became Mayor when Smith stepped down in March.
Today marks the end of the second week of three weeks of early voting in Athens, Winterville, and Watkinsville: there are municipal seats up for grabs and sales tax referendums in elections that will be decided on November 2. The advanced voting wraps up one week from today.
