ATLANTA, GA — Former Atlanta mayor and UN Ambassador Andrew Young has been hospitalized.
On Friday afternoon, an ambulance was called to the former ambassador’s home today for a distress call and Young was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.
According to his family, Young, who is 92-years-old, was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
“Ambassador Andrew Young was recently transported to the hospital as a precaution. He is now joking with the staff and doing well. His family kindly requests privacy during this time and appreciates your thoughts and prayers,” the Young family wrote in a statement.
He will be kept at the hospital overnight for staff to monitor him.
His last public appearance was at the funeral for Former President Jimmy Carter earlier this month.
