Forest Service: White Co fire now “fully contained”

Ga Forestry Commission, US Forest Service began battling the blaze last weekend

The Georgia Forestry Commission, working with firefighters from the US Forest Service, says a wildfire that burned north of Unicoi State Park in White County is now 100 percent contained.

The blaze has burned upwards of 200 acres.

“It is being managed by a Type 3 Incident Command Team with the Georgia Forestry Commission and U.S. Forest Service in unified command,” reads a statement from the firefighters still battling the blaze in the Oconee and Chattahoochee National forests.
