Erwin targeted in Gasaway lawsuit

As three weeks of early voting continue in Habersham, Stephens, and Banks counties, Republican candidate for State House District 28 Dan Gasaway is suing former Banks County School Superintendent Chris Erwin and the Banks and Habersham County Boards of Elections for attorneys' fees and court costs. Erwin defeated Gasaway in two elections held last year, both of which were tossed out by Athens judge David Sweat after voters cast ballots in the wrong precincts. Early voting continues through April 5; election day is April 9.

Erwin responded to the Gasaway lawsuit on his Facebook page…

Some of you may have read about Dan’s latest scheme. He’s now suing me and taxpayers in this District for more than $90,000 in attorneys’ fees. This is frivolous and ridiculous, but not out of character. Dan has sued all three counties in the district, the State of Georgia, and our Governor Brian Kemp. As a result of his lawsuits, Dan has ensured that the taxpayers of this District are unrepresented. What Dan is proposing is double taxation, without representation.
