Several special elections are taking place today as voters cast their ballots for a new mayor and others are voting for a new sheriff.

During last November’s general election, voters approved the cityhood of Mableton, which means it’s no longer part of Cobb County. Today residents are voting again - this time for who they want as their mayor and city council.

Meanwhile, voters in Clayton County are deciding who will replace former Sheriff Victor Hill, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of violating the civil rights of inmates.
