Elbert Co Commissioner reject landfill plan

Elbert County Commissioners, in a unanimous vote in Elberton, have rejected a developer’s proposal for a landfill that had been planned for the western part of the county. The Commission vote comes after a two-hour public hearing that attracted more than 130 people to the Elbert County Government Complex. It’s the second time since 2012 that Commissioners have said to the owners of the Sweet City Landfill company.

Commissioner Kenneth Ashworth made the motion to deny the landfill application. It was seconded by Commissioner Casey Freeman and approved by a vote of 5-0.
