Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Russell Edwards says he is suspending his campaign for a seat on the Georgia Public Service Commission: Democrat Edwards, whose name will likely remain on the election ballot, had announced for the seat that is held by Jefferson Republican Tim Echols.
Edwards is one of three Athens-Clarke County Commissioners who were penciled out of opportunities to run for reelection when Republicans in the Athens legislative delegation redraw the Commission during the most recent round of local redistricting. Tim Denson and Melissa Link are the others.
