Deadly accidents investigated

A bicycle rider is killed in what appears to have been a hit-and-run wreck in Oconee County: it happened over the weekend on Highway 78 near Clotfelter Road. Christopher Burton was 42 years old. The Georgia State Patrol and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office were, at last report, still trying to find the driver of the vehicle that hit him.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a deadly weekend crash on Highway 365 in Habersham County: two people were killed and three others were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. A 5 year-old boy was killed, as was 29 year-old Cynthenia Wade of Alto.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a deadly car crash in Rabun County: 63 year-old Andy Kastner was from Habersham County. State Troopers say his truck ran off Highway 197 and overturned down an embankment. A 45 year-old passenger was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with what were described as non life-threatening injuries.
