Congressman in Madison for ceremony with Service Academy student

10th District Congressman Mike Collins, the Republican who represents Athens in the US House, will be in Madison this morning, attending a ceremony with Christopher Morgan. The senior at Morgan County High School has been accepted in the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point New York.

Representative Mike Collins (GA-10) announced that Christopher Morgan of Madison, Georgia, has earned an appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. On Friday, May 10th at 10:30 a.m., Rep. Collins will hold a signing ceremony at Morgan County High School where Mr. Morgan is completing his senior year.

Rep. Collins is privileged to nominate eligible students for consideration for appointment to the United States Military, Naval, Air Force, and Merchant Marine academies. An academy appointment entitles a student to the equivalent of a full undergraduate scholarship, including room and board, medical and dental care, and a monthly pay allowance. Upon graduation from the academy, the student becomes a commissioned officer in the United States Armed Forces.
