The Clarke County School Board meets twice today, a 5 o’clock work session and a 7 o’clock business meeting at the School District central office on Prince Avenue in Athens. More School Board budget talk is on this evening’s business agenda.

The Clarke County Board of Education will hold its next monthly work session and business meeting on Thursday, June 13, beginning with the work session at 5 p.m. followed by the business meeting at 7 p.m.
Board meetings are held at the Clarke County School District administrative offices building, 595 Prince Ave., Athens, in the Vernon Payne Meeting Hall. Meetings are open to the public and are also livestreamed and available for on-demand viewing on the CCSD YouTube channel. Archived meetings can be found here.
During its work session, the board is scheduled to:
· have additional discussions on an operating budget for fiscal year 2025 before giving final budget approval and setting the millage rate during its business meeting. The board gave tentative approval of a budget and maintaining the millage rate at 18.8 mills at its May 9 meeting and has held two of the three required public budget presentations and millage rate hearings. The third presentation and hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the District Office.
· review and discuss other items that will be up for a vote during the business meeting and determine whether those items will be placed on the consent agenda for approval or designated for individual action.
· receive updates on district finances and facilities and on district projects funded by special-purpose local-option sales tax for education (E-SPLOST) dollars.
· discuss current and any future district policies that are recommended by staff and/or board members for review.
· receive reports from community advisory and oversight boards.

During the business meeting, the board will also receive comments from members of the public. The public comment period is for any agenda item or any topic relevant to the business of the board. Anyone wishing to provide public input must contact Lisa Palmer, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and Board Manager, at 706-546-7721, Ext. 79201, by 4 p.m. Thursday, June 13. Speakers are limited to three minutes each and must provide their name, place of residence, contact information, and the topic on which they wish to speak.
