When Cedar Shoals High School students return from this week's spring break, they will be greeted by a new principal: Tony Derricotte has been an assistant principal and is in his third year at Cedar Shoals. He replaces Derrick Maxwell, who resigned last October.

From the CCSD website…

Mr. Derricotte, in his third year at Cedar Shoals, is an eighteen-year education veteran, most recently serving as Co-Interim Principal at Cedar Shoals. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Georgia Southern, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Piedmont College, and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. His experience includes teaching high school social studies and serving as an Athletic Director and Assistant Principal.

Cedar Shoal’s Local School Governance Team screened and selected viable candidates from the pool of applicants to interview, and recommended candidates to move forward in the hiring process.

“Mr. Derricotte is student-focused and values collaboration. I am confident he and the Cedar Shoals team will work very well together to set high expectations and provide strong academic instruction and support for students,” states Dr. Xernona Thomas, Interim Superintendent.

A proud Cedar Shoals High graduate, Mr. Derricotte is honored to serve as the next principal. “I know (and see each day), greatness in this school. I am excited about this opportunity to work with students, staff, and our community – everyone who will join us as we move forward. Go, Jags!”
