The Clarke County School District is gearing up for the August 4 start of the new school year, now 37 days away. Updated information on the District’s plans for a more normal year than last are posted on the CCSD website.

From the Clarke Co School District website...

This document provides an update on plans for the upcoming school year. This information is based on current COVID-19 conditions and reflects the most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Georgia Department of Public Health. We expect the CDC and the DPH to provide revised guidance in the coming weeks. We will update our protocols accordingly and communicate any changes.

As of today, CCSD’s plan for the 2021-22 school year is as follows:

All schools will return to in-person, face-to-face, regular instruction. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 4.

Virtual learning will not be available for elementary and middle school students.

Virtual courses will be available for high school students.

High school students and parents interested in a virtual option are encouraged to complete the following interest survey: CCSD Virtual School Interest Survey.

After-school programming (ASP) will be offered to families.

School Operations

We are waiting on guidance from the CDC’s updated “Operational Strategy for K-12 schools” before deciding on specific mask guidelines. We will announce a decision regarding mask requirements as soon as possible.

Social distancing, hand washing, and other recommended mitigation measures will continue to be in place during the school day.

Current COVID-19 reporting protocols and contact tracing will remain in place.

If a student tests positive for COVID-19 or is required to quarantine due to close contact, accommodations will be provided to continue learning.

We ask parents/guardians to keep sick children at home and notify the school if your student or someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19.

As previously noted, the information contained in this letter is based on current conditions. It reflects the most recent guidance from the CDC and the DPH. We will continue to monitor and review guidance from our local health and governmental agencies to adjust accordingly.

As always, we appreciate your understanding and support.
