Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating two recent break-ins at beauty shops, one on North Avenue and another on Baxter Street. Police say thousands of dollars worth of wigs, hairpieces, and various beauty accessories were stolen. Investigators say in both cases the store’s glass doors were smashed.

A man from Gillsville is in jail in Carnesville: the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says 32 year-old Jody Payne faces charges in a string of burglaries in the Carnesville area.

The investigation continues in Gainesville, where the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says 26 year-old Abraham Rivas pointed a gun at two people and then used his car to ram theirs. It happened, allegedly, outside a restaurant in Gainesville. Rivas faces charges that include aggravated assault. He is also looking at drug possession charges.
