The Carter Center staff and volunteers are preparing their final goodbyes to former President Jimmy Carter.
Public visitation of the late president lying in repose concluded at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
A ceremony will be held in the Circle of Flags at the Carter Presidential Center at approximately 11 a.m.. Carter’s motorcade will then travel to Dobbins Air Reserve Base.
A departure ceremony will be held at Dobbins Air Reserve Base at 12:10 p.m.. Special guests invited by the Carter Family include friends of the Carters, The Carter Center Board of Councilors, Gov. Brian Kemp, and local elected officials.
Immediately following the service, the family will board Special Air Mission 39, flown by the Presidential Airlift Group of the 89th Airlift Wing to Washington, D.C..
The day ends in Washington, D.C. with Carter lying in state at the U.S. Capitol from 7 p.m. to midnight.
