AthFest is expected to bring crowds to downtown Athens

This year’s installment of AthFest is underway this evening, with dozens of mostly Athens-based bands playing in a variety of venues in and around downtown Athens. The homegrown music festival continues through Sunday. There will be several downtown street closures starting today and through the weekend.

Each year, thousands come to Athens, GA for the AthFest Music & Arts Festival, and this year’s 25th annual AthFest is returning this year at an even greater scale with over 100 bands and the highly anticipated return of the popular Club Crawl after a three-year hiatus.

From June 23-25, Athens comes to life with three outdoor stages, the official AthFest Club Crawl, KidsFest and a block-long Artist Market full of colorful and unique handmade items. After receiving more than double the applications to perform compared to previous years, AthFest’s lineup list highlights the diversity of Athens’ music scene, from rock and hip hop to punk and bluegrass.
