Athens teen arrested on gun charges

Athens-Clarke County Police say they’ve arrested a 14 year-old on gun possession charges: it happened after police responded to a report of shots fired on Sycamore Drive in Athens. The gun—said to have been stolen—was found in the teenager’s backpack. There were no injuries reported in the shooting, though one apartment window was shot out. The 14 year-old suspect was taken to the Youth Detention Center in Gainesville.

We have this morning the name of the Elberton man who was killed in a holiday weekend motorcycle accident in Elbert County: the Elbert County Sheriff's Office says John Stone crashed his bike on Bowman Highway. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating. 

The Banks County Sheriff's Office was, at last report, still trying to find a man who ran away from his car after leading deputies on a chase that began in Habersham County: he's described as a black male about 5-9, 145 pounds with tattoos on his right arm.

We have today the name of the man who was killed when his truck plunged into Lake Hartwell: the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office says 49 year-old William Norton was from Royston. The investigation into the accident that claimed his life is ongoing.

A man from Braselton and a woman from Lula are facing drug charges in Hall County: drug agents say 54 year-old Robert Baker and 26 year-old Emily Anderson were caught with heroin. They were booked into the Hall County jail.
