Athens Tech names new member for Board of Directors

There is a new member for the Board of Directors at Athens Technical College. Tony Ferguson is an executive with the Georgia Power Company who also serves on the Board of Directors for the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Andrea D. Daniel, President of Athens Technical College, is pleased to announce that Tony Ferguson has joined the Athens Technical College Board of Directors.

Tony Ferguson serves at Georgia Power’s Northeast Region Executive. In this position, he leads the company’s external operations in twenty Northeast Georgia counties. Prior to this role, Ferguson served as Georgia Power’s Northwest Regional Director, where he led the company’s external operations in sixteen Northwest Georgia counties. Ferguson began his career with Georgia Power in 1987. During his time, he has held various roles in Supply Chain, Distribution, Transmission, Sales, External Affairs, and Safety.

In addition to his extensive work history, Ferguson holds a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from North Georgia College, an MBA from Louisiana State University, Shreveport, and is a Georgia Certified Economic Developer. He has also completed numerous leadership development programs including LEAD Athens, Leadership Oconee, Leadership Rome, and more.

Mr. Ferguson is very involved within the community and has served on multiple Chamber of Commerce, Development Authority, Educational, Hospital Foundation, and many non-profit organization boards. He is currently serving on the Athens Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a member of the Rotary Club of Athens.
