Athens dance studio operator says shooting might force closure

The owner of an Athens dance school says she may have to close following a shooting that injured two of her students. The 14 and 5 year-old girls were wounded in gunfire in the parking lot of a shopping center on North Avenue. A suspect in last month’s shooting—a man from Atlanta--was arrested in Gwinnett County. Nyisha Harris says on Facebook that the shooting has adversely affected other students in the Dynamic Dolls studio and that she may have to close. She says she is, for now trying to find another place for her students to practice.

From Nyisha Harris’ Facebook page…

When I started my business 2 years ago, I had visions and goals I was trying to manifest into something great!! Not even realizing it was never my vision to begin with, it was Gods plan!

People be so quick to throw you under the bus! I get it, y’all need someone to blame and y’all want to point fingers at me… instead of blaming the people who did this! I did everything in my power to protect those babies yesterday even if it meant throwing myself in the line of flying bullets! As a Coach, As a Mom my worst fears prevail yesterday! All I’ve ever tried to do was create a safe, positive and uplifting organization to help teach and mentor these girls into Strong and independent young ladies! Giving them a space to uplift them as beautiful Black Queens that they are and express themselves through dance! It breaks my heart that people have no filter and just say whatever when they don’t know me nor my business! I pray to God that ALL my babies heal from this mentally, physically and emotionally!!

I’m trying my best to get myself together so that I can respond to all who’ve reached out to me in concern!! I appreciate all the prayers calls and messages! No matter what you say about me or my Team… We are STRONG God will forever protect me and protect what I stand for!

with God’s care, the upright perseveres through hard times, knowing God’s plan is for good, and if it’s not good yet, it’s in process (Romans 8:28)
