An Athens man on probation for an assault charge gets arrested, accused of another assault.
Former Athens Alliance Coalition Executive Director Charles Junior Hardy was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman at a bus stop in Athens.
This incident follows a previous conviction for assaulting a female resident of a homeless encampment operated by his organization. Hardy reportedly began recording the woman at the bus stop, leading to a confrontation where he damaged her phone. He was arrested on charges of simple battery and criminal damage to property. Hardy was previously convicted of battery and disorderly conduct in a separate incident.
Classic City News reports Hardy was sentenced to jail time, probation, anger management counseling, and a mental health assessment.
