ESPN’s College GameDay program will emanate from Athens this coming Saturday, with the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs hosting the number 10 Ole Miss Rebels in a game that will kick at 7 o’clock in Sanford Stadium. The GameDay show airs from 9 til noon Saturday.

Madison County Commissioners meet tonight, 6 o’clock at the Madison County Government Complex in Danielsville. Their Oglethorpe County counterparts convene, also at 6, at the Board meeting room in Lexington. This afternoon’s meeting of the Elberton City Council is set for 5:30 at Elberton City Hall.
The GBI says a former Banks County detention officer is facing felony charges: Sammy Reece is accused of smuggling contraband into the Banks County jail. Reece was himself booked into the lockup in Homer and has since posted bond.
Police in Flowery Branch were, at last report, trying to track down a suspect in a bank robbery: the white male wearing an orange cap is said to have slipped a threatening note to a teller at a Wells Fargo bank branch, demanding money. Investigators in Hall County say he made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and left the scene in a dark sedan.
Electric vehicle maker Rivian, working to build a massive production plant along the Morgan-Walton County line, hires its first Georgia plant manager. Arnhelm Wittelbach has worked for more than twenty years with Mercedes Benz. Rivian says it hopes to begin cranking out electric SUVs at its $5 billion facility in Rutledge by 2026, employing more than seven thousand workers.
