Area briefs include symphony concert at UGA, new Chief Judge for Hall and Dawson counties

There is music this evening in Athens: the University of Georgia’s Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band is in concert, 7:30 in the University’s Performing Arts Center.

The city of Danielsville says some residents who live in the Northridge subdivision will need to move their front yard fences to clear a path for workers who will perform maintenance on a sewage line in the subdivision in Danielsville.

There will be a new Chief Judge for Dawson and Hall counties after the retirement of Judge Kathlene Gosselin, who is stepping down at the end of the year: the appointment goes to Hall County Superior Court Judge Jason Deal.

The University of North Georgia says 16 UNG students and alumni have been named semifinalists for Fulbright Scholarships that will be awarded later this year.
