Area briefs include budget work in Watkinsville, Athens

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners meet for a budget review session, 5:30 this afternoon at the Government Building on Dougherty Street. There was more budget work Wednesday in Watkinsville, with two meetings of the Watkinsville City Council.

There is an afternoon meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Board of Assessors, a 4 o’clock session at Athens City Hall: property assessment notices went out earlier this month in Athens.

Today is the last full day of the school year for students in schools in Oconee County: there’s a half-day of classes on Friday’s last day of school in and around Watkinsville.

Hoschton has rescheduled its spring festival: rained out on May 4, the Hoschton Spring Festival will now be held on June 1.

A Franklin County woman is charged with assaulting a police officer in Lavonia. Aimee Izzo was arrested after an altercation at an apartment complex in Lavonia.
