The Georgia Department of Transportation says work to widen Interstate 85 in Banks and Jackson counties is on the calendar for 2023. The DOT says there are also plans for a new median for Highway 441 through Banks Crossing, and a new overpass for Highway 365 near Lanier Technical College.
Elbert County School Superintendent Jon Jarvis says Elbert County Middle School should be ready for next week’s resumption of classes. The school in Elberton sustained significant water damage when pipes burst after the Christmas weekend freeze. Elbert County students return from Christmas break next Thursday.
Officials in Hoschton say they are aiming for an April completion date for the new Hoschton City Hall: city staffers could be in the new building sometime next summer.
