Area briefs: Dooley home from the hospital, Fall Book sale concludes today

Vince Dooley is home from the hospital: the 90 year-old former Georgia Bulldog football coach and athletic director was hospitalized in Athens this past weekend and treated for what his family says was mild case of COVID 19.

10th District Congressman Jody Hice spoke at last night’s meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Republican Party: Hice is leaving the US House at the end of the year, having waged an unsuccessful primary challenge to Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. He was first elected to Congress in 2014.

A Royston woman is in the Franklin County jail after her arrest on drug charge: the Sheriff’s Office in Carnesville says Shannon Borders was caught with more than $10 thousand worth of methamphetamine after a traffic stop on Highway 106 in Franklin County.

There are child molestation allegations for a man in Gainesville: 40 year-old Javier Perez was arrested Monday and booked into the Hall County jail. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says charges stem from incidents that date back to 2019.
