Area briefs: Classic Center Arena is on A-CC Commission agenda, Elections Board meets

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners meet for an afternoon work session, underway at 5:30 at City Hall. More talk about bond funding for construction of a new arena for the Classic Center is on the Commission’s business agenda.

There is an afternoon meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections. It’s a 4:30 session at the Government Building on Dougherty Street.

The Sheriff’s Office in Madison County reports the arrest of a home invasion suspect. Deputies in Danielsville say Wayne Jackson broke into the home of a family member, stabbing and wounding the home invasion robbery victim.

This evening’s meeting of the Barrow County Commission is set for 6 o’clock at the Historic Courthouse in Winder.

The Gainesville-based Northeast Georgia Health System says it will no longer require employees and medical staff to get the coronavirus vaccine. Also gone are the hospitals’ masking mandates.
