Area briefs: A-CC Commission meets, Barrow Co names new County Clerk

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners, who have been meeting at Clarke County School District offices on Prince Avenue, return to City Hall for a closed-door executive session that is set for 5:30 this afternoon.

Bear Hollow Zoo is scheduled for closure again today. A third and final day of tree removal is scheduled for Memorial Park in Five Points in Athens.

Barrow County names a new County Clerk: the job goes to Abril Olivas, who will leave her post as Deputy Clerk in Hall County for her new assignment in Winder.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says two people were injured and one has been arrested after a fight at a homeless camp in Gainesville. 53 year-old Dexter Pulliam, who was stabbed and wounded, is facing charges that include aggravated assault.

The Talmo woman who was hit by a train on tracks in Gainesville Tuesday remained in the hospital Wednesday: the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says 39 year-old Gina Alvarez suffered a severe injury to her leg. She’s in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
