After delays, testing of Athens voting machines begins

The testing of the voting machines that will be used in November elections in Athens and Winterville—testing that was to have taken place last week and then delayed til this week--is scheduled to begin today. Voters in Athens-Clarke County will settle a special election for the Clerk of Courts office; City Council contests will be decided in Winterville. Early voting begins on October 16.

From the A-CC Elections office…

The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections will conduct a Logic and Accuracy Test on all voting equipment that will be used in the upcoming November 7, 2023 General Municipal/Special Election. The City of Winterville voters will vote on Mayor and Council seats, Municipal Election and all Athens-Clarke County voters will vote on Clerk of Superior Court, Special Election.

Per O.C.G.A. § 21-2-379.25, the testing will begin on Friday, September 22  at 10:00 a.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Facilities and Landscape Management Building located at 2555 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia, 30605 and will continue until all units have been tested and proven accurate. Testing will run from 9:00 a.m. each following day (excluding weekends) until completion.

Early voting will begin at 8am on Monday, October 16th at the Elections Office located at 155 East Washington St., Athens GA 30601.
