Athens-Clarke County Police investigate a weekend homicide: police say 72 year-old Eugene Scott was found shot to death in his home on Old Monroe Road. That’s off Atlanta Highway on Athens’ west side. The local Crime Stoppers group has offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

On August 26th, at approximately 8:12 AM, Athens-Clarke County Police responded to a residence in the 200 block of Old Monroe Rd. At the residence, 72-year-old, Eugene Scott was found deceased from a gunshot wound.
The investigation is ongoing. ACCPD is asking that anyone who may information related to his incident to contact Detective Harrison at 762-400-7361, or via email at david.harrison@accgov.com.
