Quavarez Sanders spent his Memorial Day weekend in the Athens-Clarke County jail: the 20 year-old was arrested late last week and charged in a shooting. Athens-Clarke County Police say a 17 year-old was wounded and hospitalized in the shooting that happened in downtown Athens.

On May 22nd, ACCPD responded to a Shooting call at 12:30 am near Broad Street and Pulaski Street. ACCPD searched the area, and an officer located a 17-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has not been released.
After investigation, ACCPD obtained warrants against 20-year-old Quavarez Sanders, Athens, Georgia, for two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Aggravated Battery in connection with the shooting. Sanders was arrested on May 23rd .
