The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is announcing an increased hiring incentive. New police officers and communication officers are now eligible for a $10,000 hiring incentive.

The Georgia Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget recently awarded the Athens-Clarke County Police Department the Public Safety and Community Violence Reduction Grant. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is dedicating grant funding to increase the hiring incentive to $10,000 for new police and communication officers.

“This new hiring incentive is exciting news for our department and the community. It will allow us to put more officers on the street and have more communications officers answering 9-1-1 calls. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is a leading police agency for anyone considering a career in law enforcement,” said ACCPD Chief Jerry Saulters. In addition to the hiring incentive, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department offers a competitive starting salary, incentives for lateral hiring for experienced police officers, an in-county residence stipend, a take-home vehicle program, and a step-plan pay program for retention.
