Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating convenience store robberies, one on West Broad Street and the other on Macon Highway in Athens. In the Macon Highway case, police say an estimated $5,000 worth of lottery tickets were stolen.
A homeless man faces assault charges after allegedly attacking a woman in Gainesville. Michael Burgess was booked into the Hall County jail on a long list of charges that include battery, sodomy, robbery, and kidnapping. Gainesville Police say the victim was a 54 year-old woman.

A Georgia State Trooper was taken to Grady Hospital after a crash in Atlanta, injured while chasing a suspect on a motorcycle: it happened on I-285 in Atlanta. Injuries to the state patrolman were described as non life-threatening.
