Athens-Clarke County Commissioners, in a unanimous vote in a special session last night at City Hall, have extended a moratorium on short-term rentals in neighborhoods that are zoned for single-family residences.
Athens-Clarke County Commissioners debated the Athens-Clarke County affordable housing strategy during last night’s meeting at City Hall. The plan that is drawing criticism from some Commissioners is scheduled for a Commission vote next month, as is Commission action on a plan to combat homelessness in Athens. Commissioners Dexter Fisher and Ovita Thornton were the most vocal critics of the plan during Tuesday night’s meeting.
It was to have started last week. Now it’s set to begin today. The testing of voting machines that will be used in November elections in Athens and Winterville was rescheduled because of what the Athens-Clarke County Elections Board said were delays in receiving election data from the Secretary of State’s Office. The testing that begins today is expected to continue through Friday.
Oconee County Commissioners hold their quarterly town hall tonight, this time in a new location: it’s set to start at 6 o’clock at the County government’s new Administrative Building. That’s on Macon Highway in Watkinsville.
The Watkinsville City Council meets this evening, 6:30 at Watkinsville City Hall.
