ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Athens-Clarke County police are currently investigating a shooting involving a deputy, according to WSBTV.
The shooting happened at Hwy. 441 and Newton Bridge Road, according to police.
Police and deputies responded to an armed robbery on North Avenue where police say the suspect’s car was seen on Commerce Road.
The suspect and a passenger of the car, whose identities were not released, both led police on a chase before they stopped, jumped out of the car, and ran on Newton Bridge Road.
While chasing after the two suspects, a deputy fired at one of the suspects. They were rushed to the hospital. The current extent of his injuries is unknown.
Both suspects are in police custody.
