Abrams challenges plan to consolidate voting precincts in Lincoln Co

Would merge seven voting places into one

Democratic candidate for Governor Stacey Abrams is voicing her concerns about a plan by elections officials in Lincoln County: they are looking to consolidate seven Lincoln County voting locations into a single precinct.

From the Georgia News Network…

Voting rights advocate Stacey Abrams, who announced earlier this month she is running for governor of Georgia again, spoke with WFXG FOX 54 this week about Lincoln County’s plan to close six of its seven polling places to create one location. She says it’s deeply concerning about any attempt to limit access to the right to vote, regardless of the intention.

“To close access to polling places, we are telling voters ‘we do not want to hear from you.’”

Senate Bill 202 is the new law introduced in the Georgia Legislature earlier this year that changes specific voting procedures, including early voting and absentee voting.
